On April 10th, the start signal for the new DTM season will be given in Wiesbaden. Following a successful premiere last year, the most popular international touring-car series will again present itself to its fans in the capital of the federal state of Hessen. In front of the impressive backdrop of the Wiesbaden Kurhaus and the Wilhelmstraße, Audi and Mercedes-Benz will show their respective driver line-ups and DTM cars for the upcoming DTM season.

“The DTM is a real crowd-puller. Last year already, as Wiesbaden hosted the opening event of the popular touring-car series for the first time, some 110,000 motorsport fans, car lovers, autograph hunters and interested people came to participate and enjoy motorsport up close and the varied show programme for young and old. I am very happy that the capital of the federal state of Hessen with its unique atmosphere has been chosen again to host this fascinating event on April 10th, 2011. And I am certain that we can even exceed last year’s crowd figure, when the weather is just as good as in 2010”, said Wiesbaden’s mayor Dr. Helmut Müller.

Together with the Kurhaus Wiesbaden GmbH, the DTM will again provide a varied show programme and motorsport up close for the spectators. “After the successful premiere in 2010, we are proud to be presenting this year’s launch event of the DTM with our city as a backdrop”, says a delighted Henning Wossidlo, managing director of the Kurhaus Wiesbaden GmbH.

Next to spectacular driving and pit stop demonstrations with the DTM cars, there will be plenty of entertainment for the entire family: ranging from stunt shows and displays of the DTM’s series sponsors and premium car manufacturers, competitions, photo shoots with the DTM Grid Girls to live concerts, there will be many activities for all visitors. Autograph hunters get their chance during the drivers’ parade along the Wilhelmstraße and the DTM partner series in the paddock will provide additional racing atmosphere. The Formula 3 Euro Series, the Porsche Carrera Cup, the Seat Leon Supercopa and the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup will present their cars and grant the fans an exclusive view behind the scenes. Historic race cars can be admired as well and will set the heart of every dedicated motorsport fan racing. “All visitors have the best memories of last year’s event. Now, it is our aim, together with all our partners, to build on this impression to stage an even more impressive event. I am convinced that we will succeed in doing so”, says Wiesbaden-based Dr. Thomas Betzler, board member of the ITR e.V. (DTM rights holder and promoter).

At the same time, the city of Wiesbaden will provide even more highlights for the DTM fans on April 10th: the shops and boutiques in the city centre are open to be discovered, the Easter market in the pedestrian zone invites for a stroll and the regional car dealers will put their products on display in the car exhibition in front of the town hall.

In 2010, the season launch with 110,000 visitors and beautiful weather was an instant success and an impressive premiere in Wiesbaden. Again, access to the 2011 DTM launch in front of the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden will be free of charge.
