Scuderia Toro Rosso will have a completely new driver line-up for the 2012 Formula 1 season, made up of Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne. It will be the first time since the team’s 2006 debut that it will begin the year with an all new line-up. Both drivers have come through the Red Bull Junior Driver programme and the decision to promote Daniel and Jean-Eric to Scuderia Toro Rosso was taken by the team in conjunction with Red Bull.

Lotus Renault GP and TOTAL are delighted to announce that Romain Grosjean will race alongside 2007 world champion Kimi Räikkönen next season. The two companies are also pleased to confirm that they have renewed their sponsorship agreement for another year.

The 2011 GP2 Series champion gained useful experience with the team throughout the year as LRGP’s third driver. As part of his role, Romain was rewarded with two practice session drives at the final two races of the season in both Abu Dhabi and Brazil.

Prior to claiming first prize for the DAMS team in this season’s GP2 Series, Romain was a title winner in F3 Euroseries and the GP2 Asia Series before graduating to the Renault F1 Team in 2008 as a test driver. Following this, he stepped up to a race seat for the second half of 2009.

The announcement of Romain as race driver signals the beginning of the Frenchman’s second spell at Enstone in such a capacity.

Kamui Kobayashi reviews what was his second season in Formula One. By coming fifth in the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix, the Japanese driver put in the Sauber F1 Team’s best race result of the entire season, and by finishing ninth in Brazil he achieved a positive result in the season’s finale. The 25-year old scored points in nine out of 19 races. With 30 points in total he finished 12thin the drivers’ championship.

Scuderia Toro Rosso has strengthened its technical team with two key appointments on the design and aerodynamic front.

Luca Furbatto joins the design team in Faenza having worked at McLaren since 2000, where the 39 year old Italian’s most recent role was that of Assistant Project Leader on the design of this year’s Formula 1 car and prior to that he was Head of Stress Analysis and Materials.

Lotus Renault GP is pleased to announce that Kimi Räikkönen will race for the team next season. The 2007 World Champion, who left Formula 1 at the end of 2009 to pursue a career in rallying, has decided to make a comeback at the pinnacle of single-seater racing. He has now signed a two-year agreement with Lotus Renault GP.

Robert Kubica has today informed Lotus Renault GP that, despite having started an intensive training programme, it is still too early for him to commit to driving in the 2012 championship. Robert’s progress remains impressive – he can now walk freely, and move his hand and elbow -, but he feels that he needs more time to return to full fitness.

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes today pays tribute to test and reserve driver Pedro de la Rosa, who leaves the team he initially joined in 2003 to start a new chapter in his life at Spain’s national Formula 1 team.
